Bud Dupree Signs With Titans

He gone! Bud Dupree has been a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers organization since they picked the fierce pass rusher in the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft. The former Kentucky Product will now head to Tennessee to sign a deal with the Titans

The news was first reported by Ian Rapoport of NFL Network:

Dupree lands a contract that will give him a big pay day. It’s around the number of the franchise tag but includes longer security.

Dupree, 28, has been a productive player for Pittsburgh. Former collegiate teammate Za’Darius Smith got his money. Now it was Dupree’s turn who had to wait an extra year for long term security after being hit with the franchise tag a year ago.

In 81 career games, Dupree has racked up 39.5 sacks and eight forced fumbles. The last two years, Dupree has really taken his game to another level notching 19.5 sacks during that time.

The Titans had a real problem finding a pass rusher in recent years. A year ago, the signing of Jadeveon Clowney didn’t work out so well. Vic Beasley was a total bust. Even draft picks like Kevin Dodd and Harold Landry can be chalked as disappointing. This was arguably the biggest need on the roster.

For Pittsburgh, Alex Highsmith is the next man up. Highsmith filled in for Dupree after he tore his ACL late in the 2020 season. He now has a chance to make the job his long term.
