The New York Yankees need a front line ace and there are ace starters available this winter. Stephen Strasburg and Gerrit Cole are both available. The Yankees are one of the suitors who are interested. Brian Cashman wants you to know that he’s interested.
“Of course, we’re going to talk to Strasburg. We’ll talk to Cole. We’ll talk to the higher-end guys, clearly, and have conversations, and we’ll also talk about some surprise guys, I’m sure,” Cashman told reporters at MLB’s annual general manager meetings in Scottsdale, Arizona.
“Obviously, [both are] great, talented players that have earned so many accolades along the way — and for good reason. They are some of the premier pitchers the game has seen at this time, so it’s a good time to be them.”
I’m amazed at the words that come out of Brian Cashman. It’s truly unbelievable. The fact that the Yankees PR department hasn’t taken the mic away from his is incredible. I don’t think there is a GM in professional sports who is worse with the media. Just shut up, Cashman. Here’s what you say.
“We’re always looking to upgrade our club. You can never have enough quality starting pitchers. Trey Daubert said”
That’s it. The second you mention someone by name, you’re going down a dangerous road. If New York fails to sign Cole or Strasburg, he’s going to get ripped. It’s incredible how Cashman continues to do this. Just click this link. I can’t wrap my head around why he continues to say dumb things.
Let’s just go back a few weeks ago. Sweeny Murti put Brian Cashman in a pretzel. He made Cashman look like a fool. Cashman passed on Justin Verlander, Chris Sale, Dallas Keuchel, Gerrit Cole, and Patrick Corbin. Cashman tried to deny that he passed and then said something that he didn’t offer enough to get the deals done. Hey, idiot. That’s called passing.
Cashman somehow continues to one-up himself. Just when you think he can’t shoot himself in the foot anymore, it just happens over and over again. I think you can write a novel on how many times Brian Cashman sounded like a total dufus with the media. Just shut up once, Cashman. How is nobody telling you this?
