With the inability to put around talent around Bradley Beal and John Wall, people have speculated that Bradley Beal may want out of Washington. Bradley Beal has now squashed any rumors of that sort of move. Bradley Beal via Marc Spears of The Undefeated:
For me, I look at Kobe, I look at D-Wade [Dwyane Wade], I look at Dirk [Nowitzki], U.D. [Udonis Haslem], how they can stay in one situation for a long time.
I hate change. If it happens, it happens. But if I can control it, I will finish in D.C.
I can sit here and say, ‘Yeah, I can go to Boston, I can go to Toronto, I can go to Miami’ … I can go everywhere everybody wants me to go. But what would that look like? It wouldn’t necessarily be my team to where now I’m in a situation in Washington where I’m being built around.
I know I’m going to have to take these bumps and bruises. I knew this last summer.
At first, there were reports that Beal requested a trade from the Wizards over the NBA Offseason. Then, there were reports that he didn’t. People still speculated, however. The rumors seemed to stop after he signed a contract extension in October of 2019. Now, there was speculation that he might want to leave again after he was playing out of his mind but the Washington Wizards were still losing.
Despite the lack of talent, Washington is only 4.5 games out of 8th place in the Eastern Conference. That can be credited to Bradley Beal. In fact, I’d say his back is practically broken from carrying this team. Whether or not the Wizards make the playoffs, The Wizards are looking to make the playoffs next year when John Wall finally comes back. Beal wants to stay in Washington for his career, and hopefully, for the Wizards, he does.
