The Blue Jackets Need To Fire Jarmo Kekalainen

Someone needs to be held accountable for this Mike Babcock situation. Just firing Babcock shouldn’t be deemed as good enough. Can someone please explain to me why Jarmo Kekalainen still has a job in Columbus? The Blue Jackets need to fire Kekalainen and it’s borderline insane that he’s still employed.

When Babcock was first hired, we knew his flaws. We knew he was a prick in Toronto. Ditto during his time in Detroit. The idea that Babcock was some changed man was a joke. Is the phone thing really that surprising given his past? Apparently, he was doing this with the Leafs too and that’s something Kekalainen probably knew after he hired him.

Want to hear something that’s more embarrassing? Check out Kekalainen’s statement after Babcock resigned. It’s comically bad. I only need to share one sentence from his statement to further prove why Kekalainen needs to be fired.

“On behalf of the entire Blue Jackets organization, we want to thank Mike for his hard work and the professionalism he has shown in working together on a plan to step down.”

Professionalism? That’s a joke, dude. If Babcock had an ounce of professionalism, he would still have his job.

Explain this to me. What exactly has Kekalainen accomplished during his time in Columbus that proves he’s the right man for the job? Explain it to me. Especially after this trainwreck of a situation. I guarantee I could post better results. Kekalainen will enter his 11th season on the job and has one single playoff series win. ONE. Last year Columbus notched a 59-point campaign. That was good enough for 12 points worse than their inaugural season as an expansion franchise in 2000.

WTF are we doing here? This clown needs to be fired ASAP and it’s an embarrassing look for the franchise that it hasn’t been done already. There are so many smart and talented people available for hire for this loser to keep his job after this.

Yes, yes, and yes. He said that Babcock didn’t mean anything by it and he’s sorry players felt uncomfortable and awkward and apologizes for the inconvenience. He as much as says that the players were being too sensitive, because Mikey had good intentions. I can’t believe any player would ever take any concern to him after this. And that is enough reason to fire him.
