USC and UCLA are Moving to the Big Ten, planning to Join as Early as 2024
In what many are calling the craziest college football offseason ever, it gets even crazier. Rivals USC and UCLA are ditching the PAC-12 to join the Big Ten, a move nobody saw coming.
The Cali schools moving drastically affects the sport, and all the conferences.
This move gives the same reaction as when Texas and Oklahoma moved from the Big XII to the SEC. With this massive move happening, I see the Big XII trying to poach some schools from the PAC-12. Some potential candidates could be Utah or potentially Oregon. It will be interesting to see what Oregon does, as they were in re-alignment talks with the Big Ten. Also, the PAC-12 could maybe grab some schools like Colorado State or San Diego State to fill the void. Furthermore, this puts the Big 10 at a total of 16 schools with the addition of these two. Will someone be forced out of the conference?
This can also impact recruiting. No disrespect to the PAC-12, the Big 10 is a far more superior conference. Pitching recruits that you play in the Big Ten with prime time games such as Michigan or Ohio State can help a lot. It was certainly interesting to see USC and UCLA both moving together. When I hear the conference PAC-12, I instantly think of USC, Oregon, and Washington. Lincoln Riley and Chip Kelly certainly have their respective programs going in the right directions. It will be intriguing to see all the new moves coming up. College football could be changed forever.
With crazy NIL deals, transfer portal being very active, along with coaching changes everywhere, this off season has been phenomenal. I, for one, cannot wait for this college football season to begin.
