Best Bets for the 2023 CFB National Championship Game

The final college football game of the season takes place this Monday, Jan. 9, which means this is our last chance to make a little money on CFB this season. The TCU Horned Frogs upset Michigan to advance and play the Georgia Bulldogs, who narrowly escaped the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Legacies are on the line in Inglewood, California, and so will be a lot of money. I’ve been brewing my best bets for the national championship game. Here are two straight bets I like and one parlay that I love.

Let’s go make some money with these CFB best bets for the 2023 National Championship.

First, let’s look at some of the major betting stats for these teams.

  • TCU against the spread: 10-3-1
  • Georgia against the spread: 7-7
  • Georgia 9-2 ATS in their last 11 bowl games

With those factors noted, here are two straight bets that I think are easy money.

TCU First To Score (+145)

One of the keys for TCU to win this game is starting out hot. TCU has scored first in three out of their last four, whereas Georgia has allowed the first score against two of their last four. TCU will need to make this into a classic Big 12 matchup, and scoring first sets the tone, similar to their matchup with Michigan.

Georgia Bulldogs Total Points: 31-40 (+170)

The math here is simple: the Georgia Bulldogs have scored in this range three times this year but have scored more than 40 eight times. You might be tempted to take the 41-50 at +210, but half of the eventual title winners have scored in this 31-40 range, which is more than the next which is the aforementioned 41-50 with three occurrences.

Parlay: TCU +12.5 and Over 63 (+275)

As I mentioned above before I got into my best bets for the 2023 National Championship game, TCU is great against the spread this season, and Georgia has struggled even with wins. While Georgia has been great ATS in Playoff games, I think the momentum is with the Horned Frogs.

TCU was +7.5 against Michigan and won. I’m not saying that TCU can finish off the Cinderella run with a win, but they keep it close enough. The history is not on their side, as the losing side of the national championship has lost by 13 or more five out of eight times.

As for the over, look at how these offenses played last week. The Horned Frogs put up 51 against Michigan, and Georgia hung 42 on Ohio State. TCU has hit over 63 ten times this year, and Georgia has hit over 63 only three times but has hit it the last two games.

Georgia has a top-five defense in the country, but that didn’t mean anything to Ohio State, and won’t mean anything to TCU. Hammer the parlay if you bet anything.
