Breaking: Ben Askren set to Box Jake Paul

The former Vine star turned fighter announced he will fight former UFC champ Ben Askren in a boxing match in April.

Now, this is something I was not expecting to write. Jake Paul is always in the headlines for something now-a-days, but most recently for saying he is going to become a full time boxer, is set to take on Ben Askren after calling him out over the past few months.

The last time we saw Askren doing anything fight related, well…. you know how that went To be honest I thought that was curtains for Askren, a two time NCAA wrestling champion and Olympic team member. The 36 year old has spent his time in retirement buying bitcoin, running his wrestling clubs, and hosing a podcast with FloWrestling.

Jake Paul, on the other hand, is in the early stages of his fighting career, only having two fights so far, but bringing big name guys into the ring with him. Paul recently knocked out former NBA star Nate Robison in the 2nd round in November.

However you feel about Paul, love him or hate him he puts asses in the seats. Jake Paul on his twitter with 3.8 million followers announced the fight and in his notes app post said “After I add Ben to my knockout meme collection, what can anybody say”

Paul will do whatever it takes for clicks, and we have seen this in the past when he staged a wedding for YouTube with his former girlfriend Tana Mongeau who is a top earner on OnlyFans. He is dating Julia Rose, the Instagram model known for pictures that are always taken down for violating TOS.

In the fight game, I never really believe there will be a fight until both fighters step on the scale and make weight. I wouldn’t be surprised if these guys come through after the amount of trash talk and shade thrown back and forth.

Early Prediction: Wrestlers stick together, and Askren is a guy who changed wrestling forever with his funky moves and big hair. Askren is someone who is a career combat fighter moving his way up from Bellator to UFC. Paul has been training to fight for a while and is fresher to the game than Askren who has been on a mic for the last year plus. I would like to see how the betting odds shake out, but the next few months of training for Askren will be critical to get back into fighting shape.
