We don’t have an official announcement from Rico Bosco yet but it would appear the former Barstool gambling personality is heading to Audacy. It’s an end of an era as the Pick Em podcast will never be quite the same. Audacy may be the new home for Rico Bosco but that doesn’t exactly mean that they’re on safe footing.
As mentioned in the last post, the stock price for Audacy right now is in the gutter. Audacy is making gambles on guys like Rico Bosco for that very reason. They need attention or it’s lights out. If times get tougher at Audacy, could they look for a buyer? If so, would Barstool be interested in acquiring them as they did with theScore?
It sounded like more of a troll job and plenty of laughs were involved. Having said that, would it be out of character for Barstool to buy Audacy as a troll job jus so they have control over Rico’s contract again? It can’t be ruled out.
From Dave Portnoy starting at the 28:20 mark:
“I honestly think the company he’s going to could be gone in two weeks. I don’t know much about them, but I looked am I’m like woah. For somebody that is so concerned about stability this seems like a crazy move.
Imagine if we just bought them and made him sit there!?!?”
If Audacy does go under, it would be interesting to see if Barstool did try to buy them. Barstool no longer has a radio presence so it would be interesting to see what they would want to try to rebuild that space through that acquisition.
