Ravens Mount Rushmore

Ravens Mount Rushmore
Welcome to your Baltimore Ravens Mount Rushmore. Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, Joe Flacco, and Terrell Suggs make the cut. Who makes your list for the Ravens?

It’s time for your Baltimore Ravens Mount Rushmore. Since we’re all hit with corona, we’re going to stay creative here at Vendetta. Yes, it’s a dead giveaway by the picture who I selected. There were plenty of tough omissions especially from that 2000 Ravens defense which is arguably the best ever. These are the 4 I rolled with for the Baltimore Ravens Mount Rushmore.

Ray Lewis is a given. First ballot Hall of Famer who was part of both Super Bowl winning teams. Lewis was also the XXXV Super Bowl MVP and maybe the best linebacker of all-time. 17 seasons, 12 Pro Bowls, maybe the most charismatic leader in NFL history. It’s hard not to get goosebumps when he speaks. When you think Ravens, you think Ray Lewis.

Ed Reed also has to be on the list. 64 career interceptions and the best ball-hawking safety to ever do it. First ballot Hall of Famer already enshrined. 2004 NFL Defensive Player of the year and holds the two longest interceptions for touchdowns in NFL history. Nobody has more interception yardage than Reed. Nobody has more interceptions in the postseason (9). I’m not sure I’ll ever see a safety that was better.

Joe Flacco has to be on the list. He’s the best quarterback in team history by a mile. Flacco also went on one of the greatest postseason runs ever. 11 touchdowns – 0 interceptions and a Super Bowl MVP to cap things off. It still might be the greatest postseason run by a quaterback ever. Does it really matter if he never did anything else? Flacco ended his career with Baltimore with a record of 96-67 which isn’t too bad either.

Terrell Suggs is more of a personal choice, but I’m not sure you can argue against it either. Suggs is 8th on the all-time sack list with 139. He’s just 0.5 behind Jason Taylor and 1.5 behind Michael Strahan. Yes, Suggs was that good. Super Bowl champ in 2012 and this past year with the Chiefs. Suggs is in his 17th year and still getting it done. I’m not sure how long he will keep playing but there is no question this is the best pass rusher the Ravens ever had.
