Baker Mayfield Wins Bucs Starting QB Job
We have a winner! Tell the contestants what they’ve won! Baker Mayfield has been named the starting quarterback of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to open the 2023-24 NFL Season. Mayfield’s performance during training camp and the preseason won him the job. I mean… look at these throws. How could Baker not win the job?
Head coach Todd Bowles announced that Baker is the starter and the team account already put out the news:
Okay, now let’s really dive into this. I vehemently disagree with this decision. We know what Baker is at this point. The smart people knew he was a mediocre talent coming out of Oklahoma. You’re welcome.
Since Baker entered the NFL in 2018, he’s thrown 64 interceptions. That leads the NFL. On a bad Bucs team like this, why would you want to sign up for someone that can’t protect the football?
Kyle Trask deserves a look. Maybe that will come down the road anyway but still. Now is the time to find out what you have in the former Florida product. The fact that Todd Bowles can’t figure that out tells you everything you need to know. The guy continues to have a blind spot for anything that relates to offense.
Bowles is going to get fired after the season regardless. His best to keep his job is by having Trask play well and prove he’s the franchise QB. I just have no idea what this move to Baker accomplishes.
Comment down below. How many games does Baker Mayfield start this year for the Bucs? At some point, you have to turn the keys over to Trask. I just don’t get why that hasn’t happened already.
