Austin Ekeler Is The Man You Want For Fantasy

A football fan’s favorite time of year is coming up: Fantasy Football and the drafts that come along with it. Whether you do snake or auction, around this time of the off-season and the weeks coming up is fans will be starting their drafts with their friends or colleagues at work. You can have your sleepers, your must-haves, and people you don’t want on your team. But based on what Austin Ekeler recently told the team’s website, you better draft him if you want points for your team.

Full quote from ProFootballTalk via NBCSports.com:

“Hey, I’m going to get the ball,” Ekeler said Friday, via Chris Hayre of the team website. “I’m going to make things happen. They’re going to throw me the ball; I’m going to make things happen. If you want to get Fantasy points, you better have me on your team. So, that’s all I got to say. If I’m healthy, I’m going to score you points.”

Chargers Head Coach Brandon Staley has high praise for Ekeler, calling him a complete back, and offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi is cooking up something special for the fifth-year back from Western Michigan.

“That’s why he made it [in the league]. He was a complete special teams player initially,” Staley said of Ekeler, who broke into the league as an undrafted free agent. “He’s a complete back. He can run the ball. He can run the route tree. He can pass protect. He’s an intense competitor. He comes out here and does his job at a high level consistently and that example is not exclusive to running backs.”

Austin Ekeler had amassed 933 total yards and three touchdowns while missing six games last season due to a hamstring injury. If he can stay healthy, he can be a steal in your fantasy drafts this year and help you win your league. You can expect big things from this Los Angeles Chargers’ offense this year, and Ekeler is a massive reason why.
