Auburn Hires Hugh Freeze

The Auburn Tigers have a new head coach and his name is not Lane Kiffin. If you get it, you get it. No, Auburn will hire another former SEC coach instead. Hugh Freeze is returning to the conference and will be named Auburn’s next head coach.

The news was first reported by Sports Illustrated’s Ross Dellenger.

Auburn is finalizing a deal to hire Liberty coach Hugh Freeze, sources tell @SINow.

Freeze would return to the SEC, where in 2017 Ole Miss fired him amid NCAA and personal scandal. In 12 years as a college head coach, he’s had one losing season.

Does Hugh Freeze Deserve Another Power 5 Job?

I have to make this 300 words somehow so I’ll just link this post where once again Trey is ahead of the game.

I guess I’ll link this too. You know, the one where I said Bryan Harsin needed to be fired which came to fruition a few weeks after.

You don’t have to like Freeze but he’s a damn good football coach. Damn good recruiter too. I’m sure Auburn would love to have their wide receiver room look like what Ole Miss had with AJ Brown and DK Metcalf. This is the best you’re going to do. Someone who’s going to be a pain in the ass to Nick Saban year after year. Sorry, but that’s as good as it’s going to get. I have a hard time hating this hire for that very reason. Go call him a scumbag. You can do that while you watch them win way more football games.

Freeze, 53, has a head coaching record of 76-47 with a lot of years playing in a loaded SEC. Now he’s back. Good luck navigating through this conference. Why is Texas and Oklahoma coming over again? Please keep them in the Big 12 for their own good.
