Ashley Brewer prepares for wedding only days after ESPN layoff
Only days after SportsCenter anchor Ashley Brewer was laid off by ESPN, she is getting ready for her wedding with NBA player Frank Kaminsky, according to the New York Post.
Brewer became a part of the surge of ESPN layoffs only a few days ago. The media giant ESPN cut off around 15-20 employees as a way to make room for the new Pat McAfee show heading to ESPN, including Jeff Van Gundy, Max Kellerman, Jalen Rose, LaPhonso Ellis and Todd McShay.
Kaminsky and Brewer met back in New York City in 2017. Now the couple is happily celebrating a year after Kaminsky proposed in Maui last year.
Only a few months prior, Brewer celebrated her third-year anniversary with ESPN. Now, only four months later, she’s gone. Brewer has been at the infamous SportsCenter desk since September 2020, but previously hosted “SportsNation” and co-hosted “GameNight” on ESPN Radio.
On April 4th, Brewer posted on her Instagram celebrating her Frank Kaminsky’s 30th birthday, captioning the picture: “Happy 30th Birthday to the best thing that’s ever happened to me.”
After ESPN let Brewer go during the layoffs, she sent out a message on her Twitter regarding her condolences to the company.
“I am so grateful for my time at ESPN and the opportunity to host SportsCenter,” she wrote on Twitter after news of the layoffs broke. “I learned and grew so much as a broadcaster and person.
“I will really miss all of the wonderful friends I made along the way. I know God has a plan for my life and I look forward to what’s next.”
