Are We Sure James Conner Can’t Be Productive With Arizona?

Sometimes we write guys off too soon. With running backs, we often have a reason to. Once they lose a step, it’s over more often than not. I’m just not quite sure it’s over yet for James Conner. Chase Edmonds should be considered the RB1 in Arizona but I would not be shocked at all if Conner steals the job by the end of the season.

Edmonds has been a super efficient runner but I’m not sure that will hold up when he’s given a big work load. Conner has proven he can be that guy. It’s obvious he wasn’t healthy the past two years but I still sort of know what I’m getting. For all intents and purposes, Edmonds is still very much an unknown.

Many would consider 2020 a bad year for Conner. However, the guy still averaged 4.3 yards per carry behind (what many were saying) a bad offensive line. I just don’t see why we can’t see the guy who almost rushed for 1,000 yards and 12 touchdowns two years ago. You’re telling me in the realm of all possibilities, that guy is 100 percent gone? I’m just not buying it.

When it comes to fantasy, I think Conner is a really smart buy low option. You can basically have him for free in any draft. The pathway is there. What happens if Conner is healthy and Edmonds proves he’s not capable of carrying a big workload? You’re looking at a potential STEAL in fantasy.

I would be careful about writing off James Conner. Maybe it doesn’t work and the run is over but I just wouldn’t be so sure. When right, Conner runs hard and can get the job done. It’s a hell of an offense to be a part of too.
