Arch Manning Has Committed to Texas

According to his Twitter, 2023 quarterback Arch Manning has committed to the University of Texas. Manning is the son of Cooper Manning, and the nephew of Peyton and Eli Manning. Manning is the number one player in the 247 composite rankings for the 2023 college football recruiting class. He has a perfect recruit score of 1.0000. This means that he is the consensus top player across all major recruiting networks.

Manning’s perfect score of 1.0000 places him as one of the best high school football recruits of all time. Since 2000, there have only been 6 other players that have garnered such high respect. The others include Vine Young, Ernie Sims, Rashan Gary, Robert Nkemdiche, Jadeveon Clowney, and Quinn Ewers. Manning will have some work to do to keep his ranking. His spot amongst these legends will not be cemented until the 2022 high school football season has finished and the 2023 recruiting cycle is over.

Manning projects to be an elite college quarterback that eventually makes his way to the NFL. He is not in this position because his last name is Manning. Scouts have been high on Arch Manning for years now. Plus, he is already 6′ 4″ and 215 pounds. That is elite size for a senior in high school.

Manning is joining a stacked quarterback room at Texas. The lead man will be Quinn Ewers, who was mentioned above as an elite recruit coming out of high school. After transferring to Texas from Ohio State, Ewers will be entering his second season of college football. That means he will not be able to declare for the NFL draft until the 2023 season ends. If all goes to plan in Austin, Manning will sit behind Ewers for a year before taking the starting quarterback role. However, Hudson Card and Maalik Murphy are both quality players that could give Manning and Ewers a run for their money.

With that being said, do not be surprised if a quarterback enters the transfer portal. Regardless of how things shake out, there will be at least one elite quarterback that does not get to see the field as much as they would like.
