After three seasons with the Minnesota Timberwolves, Anthony Edwards has proven he is one of the best scorers in the NBA. Now the former Georgia Bulldog is getting paid. Minnesota has just signed Edwards to a five-year deal that could be worth up to $260 million, ESPN NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski first reported Monday.

The 21-year-old Edwards is one of the most explosive scorers in the NBA. The Georgia native was selected to his first NBA All-Star game last year. Last season, Edwards averaged a team-high 24.6 points per game, 5.8 rebounds and 4.4 assists on 45.9 percent from the field and 36.9 percent from deep.
Although his regular season averages were impressive, Edwards exploded in the playoffs against the NBA champions; Denver Nuggets. In those five games, Edwards averaged around 32 points per game along with five rebounds and five assists per game, including a playoff career-high of 41 points.
With staying in Minnesota for the long term, the Timberwolves have now locked up three of their stars for the future. Edwards joins Minnesota’s big man duo of Karl-Anthony Towns and Rudy Gobert in being secured with the Timberwolves for at least three more years.
Minnesota has been smart this offseason, building around Edwards as being their crown jewel piece. In the past, the Timberwolves focused on building around Karl-Anthony Towns by adding Rudy Gobert to pair with the big man. Now, in free agency, Minnesota has added guys like Shake Milton and Nickeil Alexander-Walker to help take off the load from Edwards.
How has the Minnesota Timberwolves’ offseason been? Is the contract worth it for Edwards? Let us know in the comments.
