Andy Dalton And AJ Green Appear To Be Fed Up With The Bengals

While the Dolphins are getting all the attention for tanking, the Bengals suck and they’re not trying to suck. Cincinnati is the only other winless team in the NFL with no signs of turning things around. That was before Ryan Finley was named the new starting quarterback. You don’t even know what ugly is yet. It would appear that Andy Dalton and AJ Green, two of the more friendly guys in the league, are fed up with the Bengals.

Let’s start with Andy Dalton. He not only got benched on his birthday. The former TCU quarterback also got benched 3 hours before the trade deadline with no ability to seek a trade elsewhere.

I’m not saying Dalton is great. Still, if you’re the Bengals why not get value for him? Like it or not, he’s an upgrade over Mitch Trubisky. Telling me Chicago wouldn’t offer something for him? The Bengals are diametrically opposed to trades. Seriously, I’m not making that up. That’s how dysfunctional the Bengals are.

Now let’s get to AJ Green. This is one of the best receivers in the NFL. He never gets the credit he deserves either. Imagine what he could have done with a quarterback better than Andy Dalton? AJ Green is fantastic. He’s also been incredibly patient with Cincinnati. AJ Green’s contract runs out after this seaosn. If Green isn’t given a long term deal in the offseason, he wants out. That’s a very different stance from what he’s had in the past.

The Bengals just don’t get it. They rode with Marvin Lewis for 30 years too long. They rode with Andy Dalton for an eternity when you knew they would never win anything with him. AJ Green was the one talented guy in the room who was carrying the circus on his back. AJ Green deserved better than Andy Dalton. I just hope that AJ Green finds greener pastures and gets to play with a stud quarterback.
