Amazon Not Expected to Make a Bid for EA Sports – Reports

There were reports earlier this week that Amazon was about to buy one of the biggest gaming developers in the modern market. Amazon was supposedly on the verge of acquiring EA Sports which would be a huge shift in the gaming landscape. Now, other reports, which were touched on in the linked article above, make it seem like the gigantic move might not come to fruition. 

CNBC’s David Faber, during the network’s market alert segment, said Amazon is no longer expected to bid for Electronic Arts. A clip of the segment discussing Amazon’s rumored acquisition of the video game company can be seen below.

Sources close to Faber suggest the acquisition will not be happening as the earlier rumors might have been all smoke. There was a legitimate worry that EA was going downhill as EA Sports and FIFA have decided to go their separate ways which will result in EA Sports creating their own soccer game and a new gaming company producing future FIFA titles. However, in the case of Amazon being on the verge of buying the video game company, it now seems like that option was never even on the table.

Faber hammered this point home stating:

“I have talked to some people who would actually know if there was something going on and they say there is nothing going on.”

EA Sports is a massive gaming company that produces some of the biggest games on the market such as Madden, NHL, and UFC. The company is also bringing back their beloved EA College Football series which could release in July 2023.

People will have to keep an eye on this situation in the future but for now, according to these reports, it sounds like Amazon will not be acquiring EA Sports.
