Amazon is slowly taking over the world and we’re all just watching it happen. Reports Amazon could be potential buyers for EA Sports. An acquisition of EA Sports feels more and more evident after it was announced they’re about to lose the FIFA series. Amazon has all the money in the world so getting more serious about gaming only makes sense.
Front Office Sports put out this Tweet today which sparked some eyeballs:
Disney, Apple, Comcast, and Amazon were all listed as potential buyers. We know the deal by now. If Amazon wants something, they’re going to get it. Amazon has been really pushing towards being more active in the NFL game. Did you see how much money they gave Kirk Herbstreit to do a second game when they know his focus will be on College Football? Al Michaels, Andrew Whitworth, and Ryan Fitzpatrick will also be involved with the Amazon NFL team.
There are some conflicting reports here. USA Today has later reported that the rumors are not true.
“Though it’s been rumored Amazon will soon announce that it’s put in a formal offer to acquire Electronic Arts (EA), Amazon is not expected to make a bid for EA, according to CNBC.
The rumors come after a range of unprecedented acquisitions and consolidation in the video game space, with the biggest of them being Microsoft’s purchase of Activison Blizzard for $69 billion.”
This could mean three things:
A: Amazon isn’t buy EA Sports… YET. It just got leaked prior to when it should have.
B: EA Sports is still being sold but it will not be Amazon.
C: EA Sports isn’t selling yet or at all.
Time will reveal all but you know what they say; when there’s smoke, there’s fire. Something is going down with EA Sports and option C appears the least likely.
