Alex Rodriguez To Become Partial Owner Of Timberwolves

Alex Rodriguez has a new treat on his plate in which he’s about to devour. He already holds the role as an insider on ESPN’s popular show, Baseball Tonight but now has further aspirations which are at the brink of coming true. The former Major League Baseball Superstar infielder is in the finalizing process of him to become a partial owner of NBA’s Minnesota Timberwolves.

Rodriguez and partner billionaire Marc Lore purchased the team for 1.5 billion dollars. They will start off as minority owners until 2023 when they will obtain full ownership and control of the team. They are replacing current Minnesota owner Glen Taylor. Along with this, they are also buying the WNBA team, the Minnesota Lynx. There are no plans to relocate either of the teams.

We look forward to entering this phase of the process with Glen Taylor. Our respect for him and the legacy he built lays an amazing foundation for what is to come. We are excited by the prospect of getting to know the Timberwolves organization, the talented team, and their incredible fans.” – Statement from Rodriguez and Lore

Rodriguez attempting to buy a sports team is nothing new. He and his ex-fiancee Jennifer Lopez narrowly lost out on purchasing the New York Mets last year to Steve Cohen. Now with the Timberwolves, he can look to improve a young and hungry franchise.

The Timberwolves sit at a dismal 14-40 record. They have Karl-Anthony Towns and others like D’Angelo Russel but have some more rebuilding to do. The hope is the Rodriguez/Lore group can help bring in better players and more fans.
