Alex Cora Sends Farewell Message To Chris Sale
Chris Sale was traded by the Red Sox to the Braves today and it certainly tugged at the heart strings in Boston. Sale was a great player for Boston and threw the final pitch of the series clincher against the Dodgers in the 2018 World Series. Manager Alex Cora sent a farewell message to Chris Sale on Instagram after the trade.
“119 wins, a lot of outs, none more gratifying than this one,” Cora wrote on Instagram. #ThankYou Chris.”
Honestly, I wanted to write about this for one reason. Did anybody notice that Alex Verdugo didn’t get a farewell message by Cora? I wonder why that was the case?
Just kidding…
Cora definitely hated Verdugo. Then Jonathan Papelbon had his moment on social media.
Cora did actually speak about the Verdugo trade. The messaging wasn’t over the top but you can tell that Cora respected Sale. Not sure that’s the case for the other player Boston traded this offseason.
We shall never forget about 2018. The Red Sox are still lowkey suffering the consequences of that historic season. Sale striking out Manny Machado in that series. It was just the ultimate moment to cap off that season.
In the end, the Sox probably made the right move here. It’s something I talked about at length recently. It was time to move on and getting a piece by like Grissom is a worthwhile gamble. Alex Anthopoulos didn’t sound thrilled to have to trade him in this deal.
