Make no mistake about it, Alex Bregman is your 2019 AL MVP Award winner. I’m not sure it’s really debatable either. Bregman is an 8 WAR player who is hitting .295/.419/.590. Bregman also has an OPS of over 1.000 to go along with 40 home runs. Bregman deserves this award and just might be the best overall player in baseball.
I’m not going to waste much more time on this because I’ve covered it. If you think Mike Trout deserves the MVP award, you don’t understand the English language. Take your dictionary and go home. The award is called “MOST VALUABLE PLAYER”. Giving the award to a player on a 4th place team contradicts the entire meaning of the award. If you can’t understand that, you can’t be helped. Oh, last thing. If you’re a Mike Trout MVP guy, then you’re team
Houston will go into the postseason as prohibitive favorites to win the World Series. The Stros will enter each postseason series with Justin Verlander, Gerrit Cole, and Zack Greinke as a 1-2-3 punch. Alex Bregman is the best offensive weapon on the best team in baseball. As I’m writing this, Bregman already has a 3 hit night against the Mariners. A .300 average is still very much in play. Bregman doesn’t strike out either. A skill set that is becoming more and more important. Bregman is one of the best
In a lineup with Jose Altuve, Carlos Correa, Michael Brantley, George Springer, and Yordan Alvarez, nobody is more feared than Alex Bregman. He’s also playing a gold glove third base.
It’s a travesty if Bregman doesn’t win the award and it defines everything that’s wrong with baseball. It’s the only sport where losing is acceptable while being praised for individual accomplishments. It needs to stop. LeBron James didn’t make the playoffs this past year and finished 11th in MVP voting. If the NBA media can figure this out (and they’re dumb) then baseball sure as hell needs to.
