AEW Rampage Preview (7/29/22): Match Stipulation To Be Announced

AEW Rampage is the second and final show of the Fight For The Fallen event. Fight For The Fallen is an event to help raise money for charity. This year the company is Oceana, which helps protect wildlife in the ocean. The shows are always packed with pay-per-view quality matches. Here’s what to expect heading into AEW Rampage.

The Acclaimed Music Video

The Acclaimed is now feuding with their former allies, the Gunn Club. The Gunn Club turned on the Acclaimed a few weeks ago. Austin Gunn challenged Max Caster to a rap battle, where the winner could decide the match stipulation between the two teams. Max Caster won the rap battle and now the Acclaimed get to choose the match stipulation. Max Caster and Anthoney Bowens, members of the Acclaimed, said on Dynamite that they were going to announce their match stipulation with the Gunn Club in Caster’s newest music video. The music video is going to reveal what the match is, when, and where it is going to take place.

Matt Sydal vs Lee Moriarty

Matt Sydal is the mentor of Dante Martin. He tried to recruit Lee Moriarty after Moriarty lost the ROH World Championship, to then champion, Jonathan Gresham. After Moriarty lost to Gresham, he faced off against Martin. Moriarty picked up the victory, but not without cheating. He grabbed the rope to help give him leverage to score the victory. Following that match, Sydal challenged Moriarty to a match this week. Stokely Hathaway, the publicist of the Baddies, has been trying to recruit Moriarty himself. Sydal is looking to teach Moriarty a lesson about professional wrestling in this revenge match.

Ethan Page (of American Top Team) vs Leon Ruffin

There hasn’t been any build to this match. Ethan Page is looking to score an easy victory and get back on the radar. Leon Ruffin has yet to win a match this year across any promotion he’s wrestled in. He’s 0-12 and looking to gain some momentum by beating Page. Page hasn’t seen much success in the little amount of action he has competed in this year. He’s 6-3 in 2022 but sits with an overall record of 28-8 in AEW. Ruffin is looking to make a huge statement that could change the projection of his career in professional wrestling. Page is looking to remind people just how good he is and get his name back out there.

We Hear From Claudio Castagnoli

Claudio Castagnoli has been on a great run since he didn’t re-sign with WWE. He’s currently 3-0 and is coming off of the biggest win of his career. Claudio faced off against ROH World Champion Jonathan Gresham at Death Before Dishonor last weekend. He beat Gresham and became the new ROH World Champion. This is the first time we are hearing from him since he won the title. I expect we are going to get a new challenger for the title during this.

Anna Jay (of Jericho Appreciation Society) vs Ruby Soho

Anna Jay has found herself a new attitude. She recently joined the Jericho Appreciation Society and turned heel. Her best friend, Tay Conti, is in the Jericho Appreciation Society. Conti has been targeting Ruby Soho over the past couple of weeks. Conti slammed a car door on Soho’s hand and during the barbed wire everywhere match, Conti attacked Soho, who was in charge of controlling the shark cage. Jay came out and helped Conti attack Soho. Soho gets her shot at revenge by facing Jay on AEW Rampage. Jay is looking to prove she is a new woman with a new attitude. She hasn’t had much success in AEW, so maybe joining the Jericho Appreciation Society will catapult her to stardom.

Jay Lethal, Sonjay Dutt, & Satnam Singh vs Best Friends (Trent Beretta, Chuck Taylor, & Orange Cassidy)

Best Friends interrupted a promo from Lethal, Dutt, and Singh. Lethal, Dutt, and Singh, challenged the best friends to a trio match on AEW Rampage. These two groups have had their differences for quite some time now. Best Friends said that Dutt doesn’t have what it takes to be a wrestler anymore. Dutt hasn’t competed in a match in almost five years, so he gets the chance to show everyone that he still has it. Singh has competed in only one match in his AEW career thus far. He picked up the victory, but is looking to assert his dominance with another win. Best Friends have the experience advantage, given they have been a group for quite some time now. Both groups are looking to pick up a much-wanted need in what is going to be a grudge match.
