AEW Fight For The Fallen is a charity event created to help raise money for different causes. This is the fourth year the event has taken place. In previous years, it was promoted as a pay-per-view event being held on the weekend, but this year it is a two-night event spanning Dynamite and Rampage. Even though the event isn’t being held on the weekend, it still has a pay-per-view quality match card. Here’s everything to expect heading into the show.
We are set to hear from Jungle Boy for the first time since Christian Cage turned on him over a month ago. Cage was a mentor to both Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus, but turned on the former. Luchasaurus came to the defense of Jungle Boy, but Cage convinced him to join him. He aligned himself with Cage and the two went on a mean streak. Luchasaurus completely decimated every opponent he faced, and Cage cut personal attack promos every week. That was until Jungle Boy made his return.
Once Jungle Boy returned at AEW Fyter Fest, he showed he was one step ahead of Cage. Jungle Boy calmly walked down to the ring with a steel chair. Luchasaurus met him at the end of the entrance way, and he shocked everyone when he revealed he was still aligned with Jungle Boy. Cage made a dash to get out of the arena and Jungle Boy chased him. I’m excited to hear what he has to say, and I expect he will challenge Cage at All Out.
There hasn’t been much build-up to this match, which is okay. Martin and Guevara are two of the best young high-flyers in all of professional wrestling. Martin is coming off of a tough loss to Lee Moriarty on Rampage. He is looking to build his resume and momentum by defeating Guevara. Guevara, meanwhile, is a former TNT Champion, so beating him won’t be an easy task. Guevara is trying to pick up some momentum himself as well, since he hasn’t had much luck lately. A win for either of these men could put them on a road to gold, so it is a must-win. I’m excited to see these two high-flyers go at it. I expect some pretty cool spots during the match too.
Ricky Starks held an open challenge last week for the FTW Championship — which isn’t really recognized by AEW as a championship. After he beat Cole Karter last week, Starks claimed he had more left in the tank and said he was going to wrestle again. Out came Danhausen to accept the open challenge, but Starks claimed he was talking about next week for the challenge. Now Danhausen gets his first shot at gold since arriving in AEW. Danhausen is an ally of HOOK. HOOK is a member of Team Taz along with Starks and Powerhouse Hobbs. It will be interesting to see how Starks deals with Danhausen since he is friends with HOOK. I don’t think Starks is going to care or hold back against him.
Thunder Rosa has been looking for her next challenger since she beat Toni Storm to retain the title. She found a challenger in Miyu Yamashita, who mostly wrestles for TJPW, a wrestling promotion based in Japan. Yamashita is a three-time Princess of Princess Champion in TJPW. These two women have recently been acquainted with one another. Yamashita and Thunder Rosa faced off at the Summer Sun Princess show for TJPW. It was a non-title match, but Yamashita shocked the world and pinned the AEW Women’s Champion. That earned her a shot at the title for AEW Fight For The Fallen. Yamashita is looking to shock the world once again by defeating Thunder Rosa and becoming the new AEW Women’s Champion.
Mark Sterling and Tony Nese have been targeting Swerve Strickland, even starting a petition to get him kicked off of the AEW roster. Sterling claimed to be close to having enough signatures to fulfill the petition. It hasn’t been announced if he will actually get kicked off the roster if they get all of the signatures. Sterling and Nese have themselves a match against Strickland with Keith Lee, Strickland’s tag team partner, banned from ringside. Sterling and Nese are going to be looking to get revenge for what Strickland did to them on AEW Rampage.
Strickland and Lee were celebrating winning the AEW World Tag Team Championships, but their celebration was interrupted by Sterling and Nese, who came down to the ring to stop the celebration. Famous rapper, Kevin Gates, was in attendance and Sterling took some verbal shots at him. Gates knocked out Nese and Strickland threw a cake in the face of Sterling. The match provides Strickland with the tough task of overcoming difficult odds.
Danielson is making his return for the first time since he was injured. Garcia is coming off of a very physical match against ROH Pure Champion, Wheeler Yuta. These men are a part of two groups who simply don’t like each other. The Jericho Appreciation Society is everything the Blackpool Combat Club hates about professional wrestling. This one is set to be as physical as they come. Both of these men aren’t afraid to get stiff during the match. They have similar styles of wrestling, so this should be a really good match.
Jon Moxley is set to defend the interim AEW World Championship against Rush at AEW Fight For The Fallen. Rush is a former ROH World Champion in his own right. He is coming off of a hard-fought victory over his brother, Dragon Lee, at ROH Death Before Dishonor. Rush has aligned himself with Andrade el Idolo since he showed up in AEW. This is Moxley’s second title defense since he captured the title. Moxley is continuing to be tested as a world champion, taking on whoever wants to step up. Rush showcased his skills at Death Before Dishonor, defeating his brother, Dragon Lee. Rush has what it takes to become AEW World Champion since he captured world championship gold before. He is a good test for Moxley who is certainly a fighting champion. This one is going to be a physical fight and Rush is going to be a tough opponent for Moxley.
