AEW Dynamite is set to feature some great action with four titles on the line, plus a celebration like none other.
This episode is full of action and shows a lot of promise. Dynamite and Rampage have been lacking over the past couple of weeks, so hopefully, this will be a great Dynamite. The show features some of the companies’ top stars, so this is an episode worth watching. Plus, with AEW Full Gear on the horizon, I wouldn’t be surprised if some matches get added to the card.
Let’s take a look at what to expect in this episode of AEW Dynamite.
“Daddy Ass” Billy Gunn will be celebrating his birthday with The Acclaimed. Gunn recently lost to Swerve Strickland in a singles match. However, last week, Strickland kidnapped Gunn and seemingly tortured him. in order to keep Gunn from interfering in Swerve in our Glory’s future title match, since he cost them their titles in the first place. During his kidnapping, we saw Strickland break the finger of Gunn, so it begs the question. Will Daddy Ass be able to scissor on AEW Dynamite?
Ever since Saraya arrived in AEW, Britt Baker has shown ill will towards her. It’s clear there is some animosity between these two women. Baker feels like she is the face of the women’s division and now that Saraya is in the company, that is in jeopardy. Recently, we saw these two women get physical and now they have to sit down during an interview with Renee Paquette. It’s safe to assume that this interview will turn physical and possibly even a match at Full Gear.
Darby Allin and Jay Lethal have had issues with each other for a while now and this will be the second match between these two. Allin got the better of Lethal during their first match, but Lethal got the last laugh.
Lethal brutally attacked Allin a few weeks ago, but where was Sting during this? Allin said in a promo that since Sting was injured, he wanted him to stay home, so Allin can handle his business on his own. With Allin having no friends and Lethal having Satnam Singh and Sonjay Dutt, the odds aren’t in his favor. One thing is for sure, no one tells Sting what to do, so I wouldn’t be surprised if he returns on AEW Dynamite.
Lee Moriarty is looking to earn a shot at the AEW World Championship. To do so, he has to beat the champion, Jon Moxley, in a title eliminator match. If he beats Moxley, he earns a future shot at the title.
Lee Moriarty is a part of a new faction in AEW called The Firm, who have recently caused chaos in the company. Top contender, MJF, who had the Firm on his payroll, told them to not touch Moxley on AEW Dynamite. They didn’t listen and attacked him after his match.
So MJF fired them, and they attacked MJF and put him through a table. Only a week after Moxley got jumped, he must wrestle again against Moriarty. Moxley is defending his title at Full Gear against MJF, but if he isn’t the champion, he won’t be in the match. With the numbers on Moriarty’s side, Moxley is going to have his work cut out for him on AEW Dynamite.
This is going to be Orange Cassidy’s second title defense and it is no easy task. In his first defense, he beat Number 10 and Rush in a triple threat. This time, he faces Luchasaurus and Rey Fenix. Last week, Fenix said he wanted to become a double champion himself and he wanted to win the All-Atlantic Championship. He was interrupted by Christian Cage and Luchasaurus, who also wanted a shot at the title, so Cassidy interrupted them both and gave them a shot at the title.
Fenix is a Trios Champion and Luchasaurus is a former Tag Team Champion in AEW, so they both know how to win gold. Fenix is one of, if not the best, high-flyers in AEW. Every time he wrestles, he impresses fans. Liuchasaurus has been causing chaos since he joined forces with Christian Cage and now, he gets an opportunity to win singles gold. Cassidy has his work cut out for him if he wants to retain his title on AEW Dynamite.
Brian Cage recently joined the Embassy and has been causing chaos to the ROH Television Champion, Samoa Joe, and the TNT Champion, Wardlow. Cage had a shot to win the TNT Championship but came up short. Now, he has an opportunity to win the ROH Television Championship.
After Wardlow’s match against Matt Taven, the Embassy attacked Wardlow. Samoa Joe came out to help but the numbers were too much. Powerhouse Hobbs helped the Embassy and Cage as he dwarfed Wardlow and Samoa Joe. Cage is a serious threat to the champion, Samoa Joe. He has held 26 titles throughout his career, including the Impact World Championship. Although he has never held gold in ROH, he is looking to change that on AEW Dynamite.
To say Jade Cargill has been dominant would be the understatement of the century. She is currently 40-0 in AEW and shows no signs of slowing down. She has faced some of the top names in the organization and walked out as a champion. Physically speaking, she is the most impressive in all of professional wrestling. This week, she defends her TBS Championship against Marina Shafir.
Shafir came up short in during her last match for the TBS Championship a few months ago. But with Nyla Rose by her side, her chances of walking out with the title go up. Cargill is looking to add another victim to her long list of defeats. Cargill is going to have to keep her head on a swivel if she wants to walk out of AEW Dynamite as the champion.
Chris Jericho is putting his ROH World Championship on the line against any former champion in ROH. Jericho has done everything in his power to destroy the legacy of ROH. He has beaten former champions, Bryan Danielson, Bandido and Dalton Castle. Previously he was going after world champions, but now he has opened the invitation to anyone who has held any championship in ROH, man or woman.
Jericho has spit in the face of ROH at every opportunity he has. He even attacked Bobby Cruise and Jerry Lynn in recent weeks.
So, is Jericho getting too full of himself? Issuing an open challenge to anyone who has ever held a title in a company is bold. But Jericho is on a mission to destroy ROH. Some of the best wrestlers in the world have gone through ROH, including Danielson, Adam Cole, Samoa Joe, Kenny Omega, Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens, just to name a few.
Ultimately, what Jericho is doing is a disgrace to the company and everything it stands for. Who will answer the call on AEW Dynamite?
