AEW All Out 2022: Match Card Overview and Staff Predictions

AEW All Out is filled to the brim with matches, 15 total to be exact. There are 11 on the main card and four on the Zero Hour pre-show. All Out is one of AEW’s biggest and most important shows of the year. Feuds collide, titles change hands, and the trajectory of wrestling gets changed. With eleven matches don’t he card, here’s an over. Also, I asked a fellow member of the Vendetta Sports Media staff, Dillon O’Brien, for his match predictions for All Out.

*Casino Ladder Match*

Claudio Castagnoli vs Wheeler Yuta vs Penta el Zero M vs Rey Fenix vs RUSH vs Andrade el Idolo vs Dante Martin vs ???

The casino ladder match gives eight wrestlers a shot to earn a future opportunity at the world title. The goal is to climb to the top of a ladder and grab the brass ring. This field is interesting as AEW didn’t do any qualifying matches; they handpicked each competitor. Six out of the eight competitors have team members in the match, so it will be interesting to see what happens when they come face-to-face. The last entrant is the joker and will remain a mystery until they enter the match. With a wildcard like that, anything can happen. This field is stacked with highflyers and extremely talented wrestlers, so this match is going to be chaos.

I think AEW needs to step it up in a few different departments and I think getting back to full health with their roster is one of the big goals. I think the joker is going to be MJF and I think he is going to win and challenge for the world title.

Predictions:

Mark: The Joker (MJF)

Dillon: The Joker (MJF)

Wardlow (c) & FTR vs Motor City Machine Guns & Jay Lethal

Wardlow and FTR face a tough task in beating three of the best wrestlers in the past decade. FTR came to the aid of Wardlow when he was having his run-ins with Jay Lethal, Sonjay Dutt, and Satnam Singh. Dutt challenged Wardlow and FTR to a match at All Out but later revealed that Motor City Machine Guns is going to team with Lethal. Motor City Machine Guns are one of the best tag teams in the last decade and are teaming up with a longtime friend, Jay Lethal, to make their AEW debut.

These six men are extremely talented wrestlers but shouldn’t be in this match. Wardlow should have his own singles match and FTR should be wrestling for the tag titles. Replacing Dutt and Singh with Motor City Machine Guns makes it more intriguing, but I still think this is a match that doesn’t need to happen.

Predictions:

Mark: Wardlow & FTR def. Jay Lethal & Motor City Machine Guns

Dillon: Wardlow & FTR def. Jay Lethal & Motor City Machine Guns

*AEW Trios Tournament Final*

The Elite vs Hangman Page & Dark Order

AEW announced trios titles a couple of months ago and is holding a tournament to crown the inaugural champions. These six men get a chance to make history and become the first-ever trio’s tag team champions. They have had to battle their way through the tournament to make it to the finals. Dark Order is on their third wrestler to team with them in the tournament and found a good one in Hangman Page. Page is facing his friends in Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks. Omega came back to wrestle in the tournament and wasn’t fully healed from his injuries. Nevertheless, he’s still a great wrestler and is in the finals. Both teams are trying to capture gold and make history in AEW.

Once the trio’s tournament was announced, I claimed that the House of Black deserved to win, but AEW wasn’t going to do that. I knew all along that The Elite was going to win and I still believe that. I think this match is going to be fun, but House of Black should be in the finals, and they should have won the whole thing.

Predictions:

Mark: The Elite def. Hangman Page & Dark Order

Dillon: The Elite def. Hangman Page & Dark Order

Chris Jericho vs Bryan Danielson

Chris Jericho and Bryan Danielson finally get their opportunity to fight one another for the first time in ten years. These men are part of factions that absolutely hate one another and have gone to battle multiple times over the past couple of months. Yet again, it’s professional wrestling vs sports entertainers and Daniel Garcia’s decision on his future looms in the background. Jericho is looking to prove he is a better wrestler than Danielson and is going to be channeling the lionheart Chris Jericho yet again. Danielson has been on a tear since he returned from his injury and is looking to keep his momentum by getting a huge win against one of the best wrestlers of all time.

This match was a late addition to the All Out match card, but I am excited about it. Danielson is one of my favorite wrestlers currently and I think he is due for a major push. I think Daniel Garcia is going to make his decision about his future and leave the Jericho Appreciation Society, but not join the Blackpool Combat Club.

Predictions:

Mark: Bryan Danielson def. Chris Jericho

Dillon: Bryan Danielson def. Chris Jericho

Miro, Sting, & Darby Allin vs House of Black

Miro has been targeting House of Black since they attacked him, and Malakai Black spit his black mist in Miro’s face. He found allies in Darby Allina and Sting who have had their issues with House of Black as well over the past couple of months. Miro cost House of Black their match in the trios tournament and now they’re looking for revenge. Although Miro, Sting, and Allin have never teamed before, they are really talented wrestlers, so House of Black is going to need to focus if they want to pick up a win.

This is another match that didn’t need to be on the card. It just doesn’t have much build to it and so fans aren’t invested in the story of it. House of Black should be fighting for the trio’s titles, but instead, they’re mixed up in this feud that no one cares about.

Predictions:

Mark: House of Black def. Miro, Sting, & Darby Allin

Dillon: House of Black def. Miro, Sting, & Darby Allin

Ricky Starks vs Powerhouse Hobbs

The former best friends now turned enemies are set to do battle. Powerhouse Hobbs turned on Ricky Starks by attacking him during a promo. With that attack, came the implosion of Team Taz. Starks has been hunting Hobbs ever since looking for a fight. Well, he found one at All Out against his former best friend. This rivalry feels personal, and I think it is going to show during the match. Hobbs is one of the most dominant wrestlers in all of AEW. While Starks might lack in size, he makes up for in charisma. This is a battle of best friends as both men are looking to score a huge victory over the other.

I love both of these wrestlers, but this storyline has been odd at times. Ever since Hobbs turned on Starks, Starks has been chasing Hobbs, but it seems like Hobbs wants nothing to do with him. Starks is criminally underutilized in AEW, so it is nice to see him get a meaningful match on a PPV. Hobbs is really good as well and has a bright future ahead of him.

Predictions:

Mark: Powerhouse Hobbs def. Ricky Starks

Dillon: Powerhouse Hobbs def. Ricky Starks

Christian Cage vs Jungle Boy

Jungle Boy finally gets the chance to get revenge on Christian Cage for turning on him. After Cage attacked Jungle Boy, he went on to take some extremely personal shots at Jungle Boy while he was recovering. This feud has become extremely personal as both men have been taking verbal shots at the other. Jungle Boy finally attacked Cage and injure his hand in the process. Nevertheless, Cage is still going to fight Jungle Boy and show that he has been using him the whole time.

This is the feud that has had the best build to it on the card. I’m really excited about this one and I think it has a chance to steal the show. Cage has been having a great run since turning heel and Jungle Boy is one of the best young wrestlers in AEW. It’s bold, but I think Luchasaurus is going to turn on Junge Boy, ultimately costing him the match.

Predictions:

Mark: Christian Cage def. Jungle Boy

Dillon: Christian Cage def. Jungle Boy

*TBS Championship Match*

Athena vs Jade Cargill (c)

Athena finally gets her shot at the TBS title. She has been targeting Jade Cargill since she debuted in AEW a few months ago. She has a tall order in beating Cargills as no one has done so yet. Cargill has over 30 wins and no losses in her AEW career. Cargill has been dominant in every one of her victories, making a statement with each win. Athena is going to need to keep her head on a swivel as The Baddies and Stokely Hathaway will be lurking on the outside. Cargill is looking to keep her undefeated stream alive, by beating the newly arrived Athena.

I’m really excited about this match. It has the potential to be really good and I think it will be. These are two of the best wrestlers in the women’s division and I think they are going to show everyone why. The problem with booking someone as strong as AEW has done with Cargill is that there is no one left to beat her. I think Athena is the last call before they really run out of competitors for her. That’s why I think Athena is going to come out on top.

Predictions:

Mark: Athena def. Jade Cargill

Dillon: Athena def. Jade Cargill

*AEW World Tag Team Championship Match*

The Acclaimed vs Swerve in our Glory (c)

The Acclaimed found allies in Swerve in our Glory when they came down to help the Acclaimed. After Swerve in our Glory helped the Acclaimed when they got attacked, they offered them a shot at the tag titles. The Acclaimed has been having a great run as of late picking up win after win. They are looking to get their first piece of gold in AEW by dethroning the tag team champions Swerve in our Glory. Swerve in our Glory is looking to keep its momentum by beating the team with the most, the Acclaimed. Swerve in our Glory has had a great run as tag team champions but does have a fractured past. If it’s nothing else, this match will be extremely entertaining.

This match is interesting because I think these teams are going to have great chemistry. I love the Acclaimed, but I still think FTR should be challenging for the titles. Also, Swerve in our Glory is really good, and it doesn’t feel like their title reign is coming to an end any time soon. I think once they lose it will be because of Swerve Strickland turning Keith Lee. But I think this match will be entertaining at the very least.

Predictions:

Mark: Swerve in our Glory def. The Acclaimed

Dillon: Swerve in our Glory def. The Acclaimed

*AEW Interim Women’s World Championship Match*

Toni Storm vs Britt Baker vs Hikaru Shida vs Jamie Hayter

AEW women’s world champion, Thunder Rosa, said in an interview that she suffered an injury and is going to be away from resulting for a little bit. Similar to the CM Punk situation, AEW is going to crown an interim women’s champion. Toni Storm was set to take on Thunder Rosa one-on-one for the title but now has to compete in a fatal four-way. Jamie Hayter and Britt Baker have been aligned together for quite some time, so it will be interesting to see what happens when they are face-to-face in the ring with the women’s world title on the line.

This match is going to be a really good one. these are some of the best women’s wrestlers on the planet and they will be battling it out in a fatal four-way match. I’m really excited about this match and think they are going to put on an incredible show. It might be wishful thinking, but I’m taking Jamie Hayter to walk out as world champion. She is extremely underrated, and I think at All Out she walks out as champion.

Predictions:

Mark: Jamie Hayter def. Britt Baker, Toni Storm, & Hikaru Shida

Dillon: Britt Baker def. Toni Storm, Hikaru Shida, & Jamie Hayter

*AEW World Championship Match*

CM Punk vs Jon Moxley (c)

Jon Moxley shocked the world when he beat CM Punk in about five minutes to become the new world champion. Punk aggravated his foot during the match, leading to his loss. The following week, Moxley was cutting a promo and left an open contract or the world title in the ring for anyone to sign and have the match. Ace Steel, CM Punk’s best friend, came out and grabbed it. Later Steel convinced Punk to sign it and accept the match for the world title at All Out.

CM Punk has an opportunity to prove himself again and score a huge win against Jon Moxley and recapture the world title. Moxley is facing a newly motivated Punk and is in for one hell of a fight. this one is going to be one for the ages as both men are looking to capture the biggest prize in professional wrestling, the AEW World Championship.

I don’t hate the fact they’re doing this match again; I just don’t like how they did it. The segment between Punk and Steel was amazing, but I just don’t understand the point of issuing an open contract if it was just going to be a rematch. Nevertheless, I can’t imagine an outcome where Punk loses a world championship match in Chicago, his hometown, so that’s why I’m picking him to win.

Predictions:

Mark: CM Punk def. Jon Moxley

Dillon: CM Punk def. Jon Moxley
