Brian Flores Refuses To Acknowledge The Dolphins Are Tanking

After trading away Laremy Tunsil and Kenny Stills for a boatload of draft picks, the tank is on in Miami. Well, that’s the logical thought anyway. Dolphins head coach Brian Flores is refusing to call the Dolphins strategy a tank job. Flores suggests that tanking is disrespectful to the game. Whatever helps him sleep at night.

“This game means a lot to me,” Flores said, via Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald. “I wouldn’t disrespect the game with that. We’re not. We’re going to try to win every game. . . . We’re going come out, work hard, we’re going to fight. We’re going to play hard and try to win every game. That’s what you do. This team is motivated. We’ve got some talented players. We’re going to go out there and try to win every game.”

I guess you can’t win here. Brian Flores has to say this. If he says the Dolphins are tanking, he loses the locker room. If he admits they’re tanking, everyone will crush him for trying to lose in a dangerous contact sport. It’s a no win battle Flores is fighting.

For the record, you can’t blame Dolphins. Tua Tagovailoa is staring them in the face. They are the leader in the clubhouse. If they miss out on Tua, Trevor Lawrence is next. I doubt the Dolphins would want to tank two years in a row. Tua is probably their guy they have their hearts set on. One way to ensure they land him? Well, getting Ryan Fitzpatrick killed with the worst offensive line in football is one way to get that started.

Trading Tunsil is something the Phins had to do. Can’t turn down 2 first round picks and a 2nd round pick when you’re team stinks. I would love to know what Tunsil and Stills would have cost individually. Just a few years ago, the Dolphins parted with a third rounder for Stills. It looks like they probably doubled their original investment.
