ESPN Is Getting Their Ass Kicked By Barstool In Podcast Viewership

It truly is incredible how far ESPN continues to fall. When I was a little kid watching SportsCenter, I never thought any other platform could touch it. Many years later, ESPN is getting their ass kicked. It’s not just getting its ass kicked, it’s getting buried by Barstool that currently has ZERO television contracts. Barstool is generating more podcast views than ESPN with half the number of shows.

“More people in the United States listen to Barstool Sports’ 32 podcasts than listen to ESPN’s 62 podcasts via Sports Illustrated. I know Barstool has its detractors, but that is a remarkable accomplishment when you consider the machine ESPN has behind its podcasts.”

I have to be honest, I have no idea what podcasts ESPN even offers. 64 podcasts? I truly had to Google. it. I found out that most of the podcasts are on TV. Trash shows like Get Up, First Take, Golic and Wingo, etc. Those shows suck so it’s not surprise they don’t generate expected numbers.

Then we have other podcasts like Fantasy Focus. That one is getting the most publicity. Who the hell rushes to listen to Matthew Berry? Field Yates doesn’t have an entertaining bone in his body. Let’s be honest. The only fans that listen to that are beginners who only do snake drafts. It’s trash. The only thing of value with that show is the stats and those come from the research department, not the talent (or lack thereof) on air.

It’s not surprising that Barstool is dominating ESPN. Pardon My Take is always a great listen. Call Her Daddy is not my thing but I can see why its been blowing up. It’s truly amazing how bad ESPN has become. The lack of quality content they produce has caught up to them.
