Los Angeles Rams 2019 NFL Draft War Room

2019 NFL Draft

2019 NFL Draft
Les Snead has done a nice job drafting players including landing the best player in football Aaron Donald. Let’s go inside the 2019 NFL Draft War Room for the Los Angles Rams (Dilip Vishwanat/Getty Images)

The Los Angeles Rams lost in the Super Bowl to the New England Patriots. That will give them the 31st pick in the first round. LA is an interesting team. They have a quarterback who sucks but Sean McVay is getting every ounce that he can out of him. LA has a lot of star power on the roster and really doesn’t have a ton of holes that need to be addressed. It’s time to go inside the war room. What kind of strategy can we expect out of the Los Angeles Rams during the 2019 NFL Draft?

First Round (Pick 31) – The Rams need linebackers. They didn’t have any to begin with and now they lost Mark Barron. Mack Wilson of Alabama makes a lot of sense. Wilson isn’t the fastest linebacker in the world but he feels safe. CJ Mosley and Dont’a Hightower show us what kind of guys you can expect. The Rams need a leader in the middle. Wilson gives them just that.

Third Round (Pick 95) – The Rams do not have a 2nd round pick because they traded one for Marcus Peters. They did have two third round comp picks. One for losing Trumaine Johnson and one for losing Sammy Watkins. What a steal! Can’t script that any better. The Rams have Dante Fowler but they could use another pass rusher. I think Jordan Brailford from Oklahoma State could be a fit. The Rams took Obo Okoronkwo last year and Brailford is a similar type of player. That gives them two bites at that apple. He’s an undersized pass rusher but has some serious speed off the edge.

Third Round (Pick 100) – The Rams lost Jonathan Sulivan and Rodger Saffold this offseason. That’s two starters along the offensive line the Rams have to replace. I think they could target a guard like Ben Powers with this spot. The LA offensive line has been dominant in recent years so keeping that unit strong has to be a priority. The Oklahoma offensive line has been one of the best units in college football. Powers seems like a good fit.

The Rams really don’t have a lot of holes. Maybe some more depth at defensive line. You can never have enough corners. Another tight end? The Rams have a strong roster. No question about that.
