Patrick Mahomes sent the internet into a frenzy after a video hit the internet of him playing basketball. The Chiefs have plans to wrap Mahomes in bubble wrap. Kansas City has no interest in having Mahomes risk injury. The Chiefs have banned Mahomes from playing basketball.

Chiefs general manager Brett Veach gave a statement via 810 WHB in Kansas City after seeing the video:

“We spoke to Pat Mahomes’ agent and said Chiefs Kingdom can be assured there will be no more basketball for Pat,” Veach said. “We were able to nip that in the bud.”

It’s probably the right move for the Chiefs. Patrick Mahomes just might be the best quarterback in the NFL. Mahomes threw for 50 touchdowns, 5,097 yards, and completed 66 percent of his throws. The guy is just magical. Risking injury would be a travesty. However, I do have to admit, watching Mahomes on the basketball court was incredible. It just goes to show how athletic this guy is. The quickness and agility is crazy for a quarterback.

I do wonder how the Chiefs can do this though. I doubt that banning Mahomes from playing basketball is in his rookie contract. If it’s not in his contract, then why can’t Mahomes play basketball. I’m sure 70 percent of NFL players play basketball in the offseason. They just didn’t have it filmed.

Nobody in the NFL has a brighter future than the Chiefs. If Patrick Mahomes continues to improve, the Chiefs only become more dangerous. Andy Reid is one of the best coaches in the NFL. Tyreek Hill is the scariest weapon in the league. Travis Kelce has emerged as the best tight end in the NFL. Get a couple of defensive pieces and the Chiefs have Super Bowls in their future.
