Personal Letter To The Ravens: I Can’t Root For You Until Lamar Jackson Is Gone

When you forecast the future of every NFL team, is any franchise in worse shape over the next five years than the Baltimore Ravens? Take a minute to really think about it. What NFL team is in worse shape than the Ravens? A special teams coach as a head coach, a quarterback that can’t throw, and a rapidly aging defense. I’ve been told that Lamar Jackson is the future. Guess what that means for any logical fan. I can’t root for you until Lamar Jackson is sent packing.

Do people fully grasp the Lamar Jackson thing? It’s over. It’s done. He’s been exposed. Running quarterbacks are not sustainable. Never have been. Never will be. The Ravens beat the Chargers in Week 16 and came in prepared the second time around. 7 defensive backs stacking the box, playing man to man, and 4 defensive lineman. Hey Lamar, outrun 7 defensive backs. It’s over. The recipe has been given for all 32 teams to stop the Lamar Jackson gimmick offense.

That playoff game was over for the Ravens within the first 5 minutes. I could see it from a mile away. First, F*ck the media. I was calling for Joe Flacco in the first quarter. I was the first one. Get out of here with the “oh, let’s try Flacco in the fourth quarter”. It was too late by then. Flacco had to get in that game in the first quarter. The Chargers were prepared and now the rest of the league will be after they watch that tape.

You know what’s really alarming? I’m going to share a conversation I had with my mom this past weekend. She knows nothing about football. I asked her if she was going to watch the Steelers in the playoffs (she is a Steelers fan) my mom turns on the game and the Ravens are playing. That’s how little she knows. No clue the Steelers missed the playoffs. Here’s how the rest of the conversation went.

Mom: Where’s Joe Flacco?

Me: The Ravens benched him.

Mom: Why? Didn’t he win a Super Bowl?

Me: Yeah, but the Ravens are going with a new quarterback. They drafted this guy, Lamar Jackson in the first round.

Mom: Well, it doesn’t look like he can throw very well.

Me: Yeah, Lamar Jackson can’t throw at all. He’s a running quarterback.

Mom: That doesn’t make any sense. Isn’t a quarterback’s main job to be able to throw the ball? Why would you want a quarterback that can’t throw? Running backs are supposed to run. Not quarterbacks.

Just think about that for a second. My mother, who doesn’t know an ass from a hole in the ground when it comes to football. When my mom is talking shit on what the Ravens are doing, you know it’s bad. Read that conversation again. Putting your future into a quarterback that can’t throw makes ZERO sense. It never did. It never has.

You know what’s even worse? The Ravens watched that playoff game and basically said “Yup, we like what we saw. That’s our future”. It is the biggest disaster in any sport. The Ravens are totally screwed. That’s why I can’t root for you. I’m done. I’ve been done since the day they drafted him but now I’m really done. Admit your mistake and move on. Baltimore is refusing to do that and pushing their chips all in on a guy that can’t throw.
