2023 NFL Draft War Room: Baltimore Ravens

This one is going to be spicy. The Baltimore Ravens are the next pit stop for the War Room series. By now I’m sure my distain for Lamar Jackson isn’t a secret. However, he’s still here for now but I wish he wasn’t so we would have extra draft picks to work with during the simulation. Without further ado, let’s head into the 2023 NFL Draft War Room for the Ravens!

The best part of this simulation is the fact that I genuinely think this draft really screamed Ravens. It wouldn’t be surprising to see them come away with multiple players that we picked here today. A fake under / over might be 1.5? Check out the actual 2023 NFL draft odds.

  • Round 1, Pick 22
  • Round 3, Pick 86
  • Round 4, Pick 124
  • Round 5, Pick 150
  • Round 6, Pick 199

Does anybody other than myself want to talk about the elephant in the room? The Ravens don’t have as many picks as they usually do. Some of that’s from the Roquan Smith trade, which was great. Some of that’s on the fact that they can’t draft anymore and don’t have the comp picks to show for it. I’ve been warning you of this and now you’re seeing it.

By now I think I know this team really well. They may have even tipped their hand here. If one of the great cornerback prospects fall, that’s who they’re taking in the first round. If not, Marcus Peters will probably be back on the roster. Could it be as simple as that? I would still bring back Peters anyway regardless of how the chips fall. We contemplate moving down, but I just don’t see how Baltimore passes on one of those corners. It makes too much sense as a foundational piece with Marlon Humphrey on the other side. It’s time to get the next Jimmy Smith / Chris McCalister. This is the draft to do it.

Ideally, the offensive line could use an upgrade. Mostly at guard so you have reliable plug-and-play guys next to Tyler Linderbaum. I’m not sure it’s doable in this draft without a second-round pick. If you want one you’re going to have to move up. Then again, the Ravens won’t tell you this but I will. I have a sneaky suspicion they think Ben Cleveland is pretty good and more than capable of taking over for Ben Powers. In fact, he might be better and a hell of a lot cheaper now.

Other things the Ravens should take care of include wide receiver and defensive linemen. Two guys we came away with in the later rounds that exemplify that include Rakim Jarrett and Mike Morris.

Jarrett makes a lot of sense as a later round wide receiver target. They have more information on him than probably any team out there. I like the gamble on Jarrett. I think there is more in the tank here and the lack of a downfield throwing attack by the younger Tagovailoa might have had something to do with that.

Mike Morris just screams Chris Wormley, right? The Harbaugh connection is real and Michigan has funneled PLENTY of players to the Ravens. In fact, Baltimore has picked a player from Michigan in three consecutive drafts. Mike Morris could very well be that player. I think he’s a better player than Wormley who Baltimore quickly got rid of after drafting. This pick would make a lot of sense as a Calais Campbell replacement.
