Red Wings have traded pending free agent Tyler Bertuzzi to the Bruins
The Detroit Red Wings have traded pending free agent Tyler Bertuzzi to the loaded Boston Bruins. Bertuzzi will join the Stanley Cup favorites in exchange for a protected Boston Bruins 2024 first-round pick and a 2025 fourth-round pick, according to Pierre LeBrun.
Wow, this NHL trade deadline has been on a different level this year. We see stars moving teams every second of every day, not it’s Tyler Bertuzzi to Boston. The Bruins have already had one of the best NHL seasons of all-time, so why not go out and get a young star in Tyler Bertuzzi? Bruins general manager Don Sweeney, seems to be playing chess while the rest of the league, other than Kyle Dubas, is playing checkers.
Tyler Bertuzzi is an upcoming free agent for this offseason. He is currently earning a base salary of $5.25 million dollars with a cap hit of $4.75 million. In this season, Bertuzzi 14 points in 29 games, he has four goals and 10 assists. Bertuzzi hasn’t played much this season as he was out for six weeks with surgery on an upper body injury.
The Bruins are going all in this season on their Stanley Cup dreams. The St. Louis Blues recently knocked them out of winning in the 2019 Stanley Cup final in seven games. Now, the Bruins are loading up against the stacked eastern conference. With the addition of Bertuzzi, I really can’t see anyone else winning the Stanley Cup this year. I mean, the Bruins have been unbeatable. They have 99 points in only 60 games with a record of 47-8-5.
