Jordan Mims 2023 NFL Draft Profile

The Super Bowl is over. Now, we hit the NFL Draft season. While we anxiously wait for the 2023 NFL Combine, we have started a series on the NFL Draft prospects that were not invited to the NFL Draft Combine. This leads me to introduce Fresno State running back Jordan Mims. Here is the official NFL Draft profile on Mims.

Mims is 6-feet tall and weighs about 195 pounds. He was a 2-star recruit coming out of high school. Mims was a four-year senior with the Fresno State Bulldogs. In the 2022 season, he had 1,161 rushing yards on 24 carries, a 4.8 yards per carry average in 13 games, while also posting 16 touchdowns and just one fumble. Since Mims will not be attending the NFL Combine, there will be no official 40-time on him.

Mims has some upside, he has a quick burst to get to the outside, enough to beat linebackers on the edge. When he does run through the tackles, he has great vision, makes one cut and gets upfield. He also works really well in the screen game and wheel routes, boasting great hands.

However, even when he gets to the outside, he’s not fast. He doesn’t have big play-making ability; he doesn’t have a lot of wiggle to him. If he doesn’t beat you with that burst of speed, he’s down. Mills is a very upright runner.

Mims might be a gadget guy for NFL teams, who could use him on the outside in screens and even in Wildcat formations. He will stretch the field laterally with his skillset. However, he doesn’t have the capabilities to be an RB1 for any NFL team.

The official prediction for Jordan Mims is UDFA. He might get lucky and get drafted in the seventh round. He is definitely a training camp guy and will make it to the last cuts. He will be around RB3 for most NFL teams. However, could help a lot of NFL offenses if he is used to his strengths.
