Watch: Elder Scrolls ‘Skyblivion’ Has a Release Year in New Trailer
Slated to be one of the largest and most ambitious mods for the popular 2011 RPG The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. ‘Skyblivion’ is a full remake of the previous Elder Scrolls title, Oblivion, which was released in 2006. The mod has garnered a great amount of attention from the Elder Scrolls community. Today’s announcement of an official release date raising the hype even more. After nearly 11 years, the mod is now expected to be released by 2025.
The Background
Originally started in 2012, the mod team TESRenewel has spent years remaking and rebuilding the world space of Oblivion into Skyrim. Including items, quests, locations and more. The mod’s popularity has only grown since, with the mod’s YouTube channel having over 189,000 subscribers.
Fans have been waiting patiently for years for a release date for ‘Skyblivion.’ With the release of an official release year trailer for ‘Skyblivion,’ that patience has now been rewarded.
The Trailer
The trailer shows off all the work TESRenewel has accomplished since 2012. With the remade voice-acting, items, locations, enemies, animations, and more are all highlighted throughout the trailer.
The Work Continues
There have been plenty of large-scale mods for Elder Scrolls games, especially Skyrim. With other mods like ‘Beyond Skyrim’ and ‘Skywind’ still in production. But with the announcement of a 2025 ‘Skyblivion’ release date, development is beginning to near its end. Developers show their appreciation for their fans from the description box of the release date trailer.
“Making games takes time, this goes double for a volunteer project the size of a AAA game that took a team of fulltime DEVS years to make. Regardless we would like to share today that Skyblivion is in a state where we can promise a 2025 release at the latest. We hope with your support to finish the final steps in completing our dream, maybe even beating our own estimation.“
The work is still ongoing, however. With development expected to continue for another two years. But for all intents and purposes, this is the beginning of the end of the development cycle for ‘Skyblivion.’
