Colorado lands pair of four-stars

Deion Sanders is working his magic once more, landing Colorado a pair of four-star prospects in running back Dylan Edwards and wide receiver Adam Hopkins. Edwards is ranked 186th nationally with Hopkins at No. 256, according to the 247Sports composite rankings.

The pair should immediately come in and make an impact on this Colorado offense.

Edwards is an incredibly shifty and quick running back with great top-end speed. He has also shown an ability to line up on the outside and be an elite route runner. He gives any offense tremendous versatility with his ability to line up almost anywhere.

Meanwhile, Hopkins should be a nice addition on the outside as a deep threat. While only 6-feet tall, he still has displayed a great ability to highpoint the ball and make tough contested catches. He has tremendous ball skills and does a great job of working vertically down the field.

The two should complement each other well and make this Colorado offense much better overall.

It was a difficult battle for Sanders to bring the pair in, however. As of early December, Edwards was committed to Notre Dame and Hopkins at Auburn.

But as we have seen time and time again, Sanders is able to come in last second and sweep the rug from under these big schools. We saw it last year when he flipped No. 1 overall prospect Travis Hunter from FSU to Jackson State and turned the latter into a legitimate football powerhouse winning 12 games this past season.

We may see it again with five-star cornerback Cormani McClain delaying the signing of his letter of intent with rumors flying that Sanders is making a late push to bring him to Boulder, Colorado. It would be a huge move as McClain is the No. 2 ranked player, according to the 247 Sports composite.

The addition of these two gives Colorado a much-needed boost to its recruiting. Their class currently sits at No. 53, per 247Sports, with all their prior recruits being three-stars or lower. In due time though, I’m sure Deion Sanders will be able to bring in that top-end talent like we’ve seen before and turn Colorado into a legitimate team in the Pac-12.
