Buy Low Fantasy Football 2022 Week 9
Last week’s buy low, sell high list was not ideal, as injuries got the best of both Michael Thomas and D’Andre Swift. I still think you should buy low on Swift, but Thomas’s injury is season-ending. Leonard Fournette is still a great sell high option as rookie Rachaad White gets more and more touches. For most leagues this is the last week trades can be made, so tread lightly here.
Buy Low
Josh Jacobs
The Raiders are one of the biggest disappointments in 2022. However, for fantasy purposes, they aren’t. Josh Jacobs went on a tear, going for 32, 28 and 35 points just a few weeks ago. Since then, Jacobs has come back to earth with mediocre performances against the Jaguars and Saints.
I still think Jacobs will be given a huge workload in his contract year. His work in the receiving game has dwindled, but that will come as the Raiders have more winnable matchups going forward. If the Jacobs owner is down on him after consecutive disappointing weeks, go get him now.
George Pickens
I’m willing to die on this hill: The Steelers’ offense has better days ahead of them. I believe in Mike Tomlin. They faced a buzzsaw of defenses consisting of Buffalo, Tampa Bay, and Philadelphia before going into their bye week.
Kenny Pickett is the man going forward and he loves George Pickens. The rookie receiver averages about seven targets a game with Pickett as his quarterback. Pickens is a tremendous talent out of Georgia, and the trend of rookie wideouts breaking out in the second half of the season is a consistent one. You can get Pickens for pennies right now and I’m all for it.
Sell High
JuJu Smith-Schuster
JuJu Smith-Schuster is on a hot streak right now. In his past three games, he’s averaged over eight targets, over 100 yards, and finished with two touchdowns. A favorite target of Patrick Mahomes is an enticing fantasy football option, but I see it as a sell high.
This wide receiver group for the Chiefs is a committee if I’ve ever seen one. Smith-Schuster will always be second fiddle to Travis Kelce. Oh, and the Chiefs just sent a third and sixth-round pick for wideout Kadarius Toney before the trade deadline. As Toney gets integrated into the offense, there will be fewer targets for Smith-Schuster. Sell high while you can.
Mike Evans
I could’ve easily put Chris Godwin on here too, so consider both he and Mike Evans as sell high options. You can’t have watched that Rams-Bucs game and remain confident in Tampa Bay’s offense going forward. Tom Brady does look washed — except for that inexplicable last drive. And the offensive line continues its pass-blocking woes. Both Buccaneer receivers have significant name value to fetch you a decent return. Not only that, but they have one of the worst schedules going forward for wideouts.
Trading this year in fantasy football 2022 can make or break your season. Suppose you can take advantage of when to buy low or sell high on a player. In that case, you’ll be giving yourself a significantly better advantage as the season progresses, ideally to a fantasy football championship.
