AEW Rumor Roundup (10/19/22): CM Punk Plans revealed?
It is important to keep in mind while reading that these are rumors. They are not confirmed, just rumors based off reports.
- In a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer speculated that the main event of AEW Full Gear could have very well been Punk against MJF for the AEW World Heavyweight Championship. Those plans of course changing after Punk’s suspension. This makes sense as it seems MJF is in line to eventually win the title, sooner rather than later.
- It seems Kenny Omega, among other suspended stars, does not have any indication on when they will return. Meltzer stated on Wrestling Observer Radio that it seems as if nobody has any real information on the situation, including those involved. The company has yet to address a timetable for the suspensions.
- Fightful Select has reported that AEW has possibly brought in some relatively big Canadian names onto the roster. Most notably, the Voro Twins made an appearance at an AEW taping recently. The Voro Twins are most famous for their social media following on TikTok. Independent wrestling star Jody Threat was also reported to be booked for tapings as of late.
- It has been reported by Fightful Select that former WWE Intercontinental Champion, Jacques Rougeau, was backstage at recent AEW tapings. Rougeau is a fellow Canadian to recent signee Renee Paquette. He is also said to have a good relationship with current AEW World Heavyweight Champion, Jon Moxley, the husband of Paquette.
- As noted in a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, it seems Bandido may be leaning toward signing AEW. It is said that both major companies have shown significant interest. This report may not come as a surprise to some following Bandido’s recent debut.
