Pat McAfee Parts Ways With SiriusXM

For more than two years, SiriusXM and Mad Dog Sports Radio were the home of the audio-only version of ‘The Pat McAfee Show’. That time has come to an end as McAfee and SiriusXM have elected to part ways.

The news was first reported by Sports Illustrated’s Jimmy Traina, who noted that the split was amicable.

This will not affect ‘The Pat McAfee Show’ in the immediate future. The live show will still air on YouTube from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday through Friday. The only difference is that McAfee needs to find a new partner for the show’s live audio-only version.

“Sirius doesn’t provide any information on who/if anybody listens, so all of our business agreements with our other fantastic partners has been done strictly off of our YouTube and social media presences so it legitimately affects nothing other than we won’t be able to be listened to by whomever was potentially listening on SiriusXM,” McAfee told The Post.

McAfee addressed those that listened to the radio show while thanking SiriusXM in a quote he gave to The Post.

I have heard from some of our Sirius Listeners today on Social and in our YouTube comments, I’m very grateful for those that listened to us on XM,” McAfee said. “I took a lot of pride in being a host who could hopefully paint a picture for those who couldn’t watch what was happening. I have no clue how many folks listened on Sirius but I appreciate them all for taking a chance on us. We’ll continue to move forward and hopefully continue creating a product worth consuming.

McAfee also addressed the situation on Twitter, as seen below:

The future should be interesting for McAfee. ‘The Pat McAfee Show’ will certainly be in high demand as audio platforms look to strengthen their catalog. Wherever McAfee takes the audio-only version, let’s hope he does not have to throw ‘hard outs’ in the middle of a conversation every time the radio cuts to commercials.
