Official Rumor Killer on New Infamous and Sly Cooper Titles

Sucker Punch Productions is a game developer that has been creating games for nearly 25 years. Their two lead franchises are Infamous and Sly Cooper, but it appears that Sucker Punch will be shifting focus away from those games. The company announced it is prioritizing the creation of its next game and as a result, the beloved Infamous and Sly Cooper games will be put to bed.

“With our focus on our current project, we have no plans to revisit inFAMOUS or Sly Cooper right now, and no other studio is currently working on projects related to those franchises either.”

Infamous, a single-player action-adventure video game, was released in 2009 on the PlayStation 3. Infamous allows for gamers to play as the protagonist as he uses his electricity-based superpowers to defeat enemies and bring order to “Empire City.” The game had a lot of good missions as well as a Karma system where the player’s decisions were monitored, and certain decisions would affect the character’s development. As of right now, there are five games in the Infamous series with the last game being released in 2014.

The Sly Cooper franchise is a fan favorite series that started in 2002 on PlayStation 2 and is a stealth-based game centered around the protagonist Sly Cooper who is an anthropomorphic raccoon. Sly Cooper has two accomplices in Bentley the turtle and Murray the hippopotamus that both go on devious adventures with him. The squad pulls off incredible heists as they like to steal from other gangs and thieves. Sucker Punch released two more Sly Cooper titles in 2004 and 2005 and then Sanzaru picked up the fourth Sly Cooper game as Sucker Punch focused on the first Infamous game.

What Does This Mean for the Infamous and Sly Cooper Games

Sucker Punch stated there are no Infamous or Sly Cooper games in the works and that the games will stop getting support in the future. As of right now, these games will still be active but soon enough all resources will go towards their next project. This is a tough blow to the fans of these two franchises as gamers have been enjoying both for over ten years.

Sucker Punch did not say what their next game would be, but it will hopefully be another new franchise with amazing characters. Sucker Punch wrapped up its news update by thanking its fans for nearly 25 years of support and fun gaming experiences. Now, gamers of the Infamous and Sly Cooper franchises will have to play them as much as possible before the plug is pulled.
