Stop me if you’ve heard this one before about Conor McGregor.
Italian DJ and musician Francesco Facchinetti has officially announced he is filing charges against the former two-division UFC Champion over an alleged assault that took place in Rome this past weekend. According to news outlets, the Carabinieri Police in Mariano Comasco has confirmed the reports of Facchinetti filing charges through his attorney on Tuesday.
The alleged incident took place at the St-Regis Hotel when Facchinetti and his group tried to leave a party that Conor McGregor and his wife Dee Devlin were also attending. Facchinetti claims McGregor punched him in the nose and mouth, leaving him with a concussion and a broken nose.
“I took a punch for nothing,” Facchinetti said on his Instagram Stories in the hours following the alleged incident, as translated from Italian by Pro Sports Extra. “That punch could go to anyone. My friends, my wife, or other friends. That’s why I decided to sue Conor McGregor because he is a violent and dangerous person.”
Facchinetti’s wife Wilma Helena Faissol shared a very detailed report of what she saw go down this past weekend to her Instagram.
“Out of nowhere he threw a punch in the face of Francesco,” Faissol said. “(McGregor) was inviting us to another party. Francesco said, ‘OK, let’s go,’ and he hit him. Luckily, (Francesco) was very close so (McGregor) couldn’t load up (his punch). Francesco flew back, fell on the table, and then on the ground. The first thing that came to mind was, ‘Are we kidding? Is it a show?’
“Then I was paralyzed. I turned around and saw that his friends were holding him against the wall because he wanted to continue beating Francesco. Then they took him away. I turned on the light, and the guards turned them off. Francesco was bleeding. I wanted to help him, and the guards chased us away.”
Dana White has refused to comment at this time, claiming he does not have enough information on the matter right now.
Conor McGregor and news reports going hand in hand over the past few years. This latest accusation is the second time in two months McGregor has gotten in a physical altercation with a celebrity. There is also the report he punched an old man at a bar, and who can forget the bus incident in New York. Guys like him and Jon Jones unfortunately can’t seem to stay out of trouble.
