The argument is dead in the water. Trey was right again. I said it before; Cody Bellinger is a flawed baseball player. It was only a matter of time before the rest of the league caught up. It’s past caught up now. Bellinger flat out sucks. I just don’t know why the rest of the baseball community didn’t see this coming.
On the season, Bellinger is slashing .173/.287/.291 with an OPS+ of 61. As I’m writing this, he’s 0-4 against Colorado dropping his average to .168 in 132 at-bats. Bellinger has just four homers on the entire season. This is the same guy that hit 47 two years ago and we’re never seeing that guy again.
As I said in my previous post, Bellinger has a huge hole in his swing. Until he fixes that nonsense, this is the new reality. I just don’t know why nobody else saw this coming. When you can’t hit every area of the strike zone, major league pitching is going to get you out.
The time to trade Bellinger is now. The Dodgers outfielder hits free agency after the 2023 season. Andrew Friedman should try to salvage any value he has left. You know delusional Scott Boras is going to demand a record breaking contract for Bellinger based on past performance.
Max Muncy is the MVP of this team. Mookie Betts is feeling himself a bit too much but is still a good baseball player. Corey Seager should be the priority at this point to keep in free agency. After the season is over, you sell Bellinger for the best package possible. The guy sucks. It’s just a matter of time before everyone realizes it.
