Tight End University Doesn’t Extend Invite To Tim Tebow
Tight End University invited 50 tight end’s around the league to train from June 23 to June 25 in Nashville, Tennessee. But a new tight end who wasn’t extended an invite was Jacksonville Jaguars, Tim Tebow.
San Francisco 49ers’ tight end George Kittle, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, and former tight end who spent most of his career on the Carolina Panthers Greg Olsen came together to conduct TEU. George Kittle explained why he decided to bring tight ends to learn from each other.
“It just allows these guys to learn every single aspect of the game because if you can play the tight end position and do everything at a very high level, then there’s not really anything defense can do against you,” Kittle said.

A former quarterback for the Denver Broncos and New York Jets, Tim Tebow switched his position after a nine-year absence to play football again. Free-agent Dez Bryant criticized Tebow’s opportunity to play on the field because he only played three seasons with the NFL. Rex Ryan who coached Tebow with the New York Jets even offered his opinion with his new position.
“He doesn’t have the skill set of tight end. He’s not Travis Kelce,” Ryan said.

The main reason Kittle said Tim Tebow wasn’t extended an invite for TEU this past week was because of Tebow’s lack of experience.
“If I can’t invite every tight end, how do I not invite a second- or third-string guy on a team that’s been playing tight end since he was 18 years old in high school?” Kittle said. “Nothing against Tim Tebow. I hope that he has incredible success this year. I hope he has 10 touchdowns. I hope he has a great year, but it’s hard for me to invite someone to this that just started playing the position when I can’t invite a guy that’s been playing it for eight to 10 years. That’s just hard for me.”

Tim Tebow hasn’t even played his new position longer than a few months. Kittle, Kelce, and Olsen wanted to bring tight ends who have devoted their time and dedication to their position to learn from others. If they would have allowed Tim Tebow an invite, it would have curved the meaning of TEU and why they created the 3-day camp. Honestly, Tim Tebow only played in the NFL for three seasons and the Jaguars only signed Tebow for one season. So, we will see how long he will last in his new position. And this is the real reason why TEU hesitated with extending the invite to Tim Tebow.
