The Bruins felt like a team in purgatory but after a flurry of moves at the 2021 NHL trade deadline, it’s clear Boston is going for it again. Taylor Hall is shipping it up to Boston after the Bruins made a trade to acquire the former number one overall pick in 2010. Hall seems thrilled about the trade to Beantown and wants to stay long term.

“I was ready to come to Boston, and it didn’t work out,” Hall said Monday on a video call with reporters.

“I was ready to be a Bruin and just some other things didn’t work out,” he added. “It was not like any hard feelings or anything like that. Once I knew there was a possibility I’d be traded, Boston was No. 1 on the list.”

“I’d love to be a Bruin for a few years,” Hall said. “It’s obviously been a bad year for me personally. I need to play well. I need to contribute and most of all, I want to be part of a team that wins games. I really believe we can do that here. That’s really just my main goal.”

Hall, 29, is scheduled to hit free agency again after this season. There’s no question he’s having a brutal year. In 37 games this year for Buffalo, Hall has two goals and 17 assists. Hall has done nothing but stink up the joint. The question can that stench be blamed entirely on the Sabres or is Hall just overrated? We’re about to find out.

This is going to be a hell of an audition for Hall. His next pay check is banking on performing well with the Bruins. Boston also has a ton of cap space this offseason and will likely be interested in keeping Hall long term.

Boston also acquired Senators defenseman Mike Reilly for a third round pick.
