Sports Media
The former Boston Celtics’ legend is a free agent in the media world after just being fired by ESPN. Immediately after the Paul Pierce news became public, Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy tweeted at him,
Paul Pierce brought the strip club back to his house and shared it for the world to see on Instagram live. Although that type of stuff might not be tolerated at ESPN, it sure as hell would be at Barstool. The honest truth out of it all is Barstool sucks at covering the NBA. After Trill Withers left, the NBA show Mickstape died and that was their only NBA content.
Trysta Krick has an NBA podcast now called “This League” but the ratings aren’t seemingly great and the show generates little to no buzz on social media. That is hard to do with the support behind the podcasts at Barstool, so whatever the case may be, they need better NBA coverage.
Barstool Sports is originally a Boston based site, and a lot of their success and growth from the early days were centered around the championships the city won. Pierce was part of some legendary moments and teams in Boston, so it wouldn’t surprise me if Pierce and Portnoy had spoken prior to this all going down.
I don’t know how much Pierce actually wants to work, he is kind of set for life from his playing days and all the media work post career is just gravy. However, if he went to Barstool, he would pretty much be able to do whatever he wants from wherever he wants.
