Steve Cohen, the owner of the Mets, announced that the team is bringing back the black jerseys for this season.
In an interview with SNY, Cohen declared that the team will be wearing the black jerseys for a few games this season.
“I can say with absolute certainty that the black jerseys are coming back. They will come back for a few games this year at some point, and [fans] will be able to buy those jerseys”

Huge day for Mets fans like myself. This is bigger than the jersey the team wears because it shows that Cohen is listening to the fans of the team. It is a nice change considering the former owners didn’t do shit other than making one trade for a player that turned out to be a rental.
The black jerseys haven’t been worn in over a decade, and players like Pete Alonso and Marcus Stroman have been advocating for it over the past 12 months.
“I really do hope that we get them, because I think that it’d be exciting not just to have a different jersey, but we gotta make it a thing: Friday Night Blackouts. I’m just picturing in my mind everybody in the stadium with a blacked-out jersey. I think it’d be so intimidating.”

Mets players will also be collaborating with Cohen and the team to have the black jerseys just the way they like them.
“We have some designs and I want the players to be involved in picking out the right design”

I am not going to lie, I was hoping for a bit more from Uncle Steve in this Q&A with SNY. Specifically, I was looking for an announcement on an extension for Francisco Lindor (who Milo somehow thinks is overrated), but as a fan, I will take the black jersey and a chance to see a blackout at Citi Field.
