LaMarcus Aldridge is headed to Brooklyn.
On March 10, LaMarcus Aldridge and the San Antonio Spurs announced that they were parting ways. It had become official after the trade deadline ended. As the Spurs were waiting to see if any team would take a chance on trading for him. But, He is now joining the Brooklyn Nets via Adrian Wojnarowski.
The 35-year-old left Portland back in 2015. When he departed to go home to San Antonio. Aldridge is signing a One-Year deal.
This season he is averaging 13.7 points per game, the fewest he has scored his rookie season. He’s also adding in 4..5 rebounds per game, as well 1.7 assists and 0.9 blocks.
With Brooklyn looking to win a championship, they needed to add defense to their team, if they wanted to have a shot at the championship this season. They also added Blake Griffin recently.
Many teams were in the running for LaMarcus Aldridge including the Los Angeles Lakers, the Los Angeles Clippers, the Portland Trail Blazers, Miami Heat, and the Brooklyn Nets. After he had been bought out the Heat had emerged as the front runners.
Aldridge will now be joining a team that has Kyrie Irving, James Harden, Kevin Durant, and Blake Griffin. LaMarcus is more suited to come off the bench this late in his career. Though he can still produce.
The Brooklyn Nets are now poised to win the NBA Finals more so than ever. Aldridge has had a very productive career in his nine seasons. But, the former number two overall pick has yet to win a championship. He now has a chance to do so with the Nets.
