The Jets Need To Come In And Rescue Deshaun Watson

It’s no secret that Houston has a top-five talent at the quarterback position in Deshaun Watson. The sad part is, however, is that they are utterly wasting his career. Horrible coaching decisions, trading away top talent, and not considering Watson’s desires for GM has led the 25-year old from Clemson to want out of Houston. Here at Vendetta, we recently put out a post listing potential trade destinations, but one team was left out: The New York Jets. Let’s talk about why the New York Jets need to rescue Deshaun Watson.

For starters, let’s get the obvious out of the way. The Jets last year sucked. But there are a few factors to consider here: awful coaching in Adam Gase who has since been replaced with Robert Saleh. CJ Mosley, who was going to be the anchor of the defense, opted out of the season. This was also just a very young team, to begin with. But down the stretch, they showed promise. If you add in a generational talent like Deshaun Watson into a team with an underrated young wide receiver core, a new defensive minded Head Coach, and the second most cap space going into next year at 70 million? The sky is the limit.

Let’s play GM for a second here. You have 70 million dollars to spend this year. The Jets have the potential to make a splash in free agency. I am going to predict the Jets land 3 top-level talent: WR Chris Godwin, OLB Bud Dupree, and FS Justin Simmons. Combine these studs with two first-round picks and another at 34. What do you get? A team that can compete in the AFC East. Add in Deshaun Watson into the mix and you are looking at a dangerous team.

There are no two ways about it: The Jets need to rescue Deshaun Watson from the hellhole that is Houston. He has never had a fighting chance with the Texans, but a move to the bright lights of New York (technically New Jersey but) can change all that. He was never the problem, that is clear. But he can be the solution to the Jets woes. Please save Deshaun Watson, he deserves it.
