Alabama Is the Best Team in the SEC

Tuesday, Alabama Basketball destroyed the LSU Tigers, 105-75. The victory vaulted the Crimson Tide to 7-0 in SEC play and 12-3 overall. They went nuclear, shooting 55.9% from the field and 53.5% from three on 43 attempts. John Petty Jr. scored 24 points. Josh Primo and Jahvon Quinerly each added 22 of their own. The blowout of LSU made one thing quite clear: Alabama is the best team in the SEC.

Alabama Basketball has already beaten seven of the 13 other SEC teams. Their average margin of victory in those games is 18 POINTS. The Tide beat a top-10 Tennessee team by eight points on the road.

After the win over LSU, Alabama jumped to No. 10 in the NCAA NET Rankings. They are 9-2 in Quad 1+2 games, the most such victories of any team in the country. The only SEC team ahead of them in the NET, Tennessee, are 4-2 in Quad 1+2 games.

The Crimson Tide are also looking really good in KenPom. They are one of only five teams in the country that rank in the top 15 for both Adjusted Offensive Efficiency and Adjusted Defensive Efficiency.

Head Coach Nate Oats is in his second season with Alabama Basketball. He has taken the Crimson Tide from an average program to a powerhouse. They have their highest AP Poll ranking (No. 18) since the 2011-12 season, and they stand to rise again after the LSU game is factored in. Halfway through the season, they are on pace for their highest winning percentage since 1986-87.

Alabama represent a threatening combination of offense, defense, veteran play, and coaching. They are putting the SEC (and the country) on notice. Look out for the Crimson Tide.
