Will we finally get to see Urban Meyer in the NFL? Meyer has not coached at any level since 2018. However, it looks like he is mulling over NFL offers. The former national championship coach at Florida and Ohio State and no NFL background. However, it would appear that if Meyer returns to coaching, it would be to see if he can win in the NFL.
“At least two NFL teams have reached out to Urban Meyer to see whether the former Ohio State coach would be interested in interviewing for — if not accepting — a head-coaching job at the next level, league sources told ESPN.
Meyer, according to a source connected to one of those teams, did not dismiss the overtures and is considering whether to make the jump to the NFL. He intends to decide in the next week, before the NFL regular season is over, and teams expect to hear his decision in the coming days.”
Meyer, 56, went 187-32 in 17 years as a college head coach. Meyer won three national titles while making stops at Bowling Green, Utah, Florida, and Ohio State. There’s no question this is one of the brightest minds in all of college football.
There would never be a better time to make the jump to the NFL than right now. Meyer could take the Jacksonville job and return to the great state of Florida. It’s a total rebuild and Trevor Lawrence gets handed to you on a silver platter.
The Jets job is also a great job. Meyer mentored Ryan Day and will get all the inside scoop he needs on Justin Fields. Both are ground up programs that Meyer can build a culture and turn them into winners.
Hey, Urban. If you take the Jags head coaching job, give me a call. I’ll make sure this roster gets built into one where we’re hoisting Lombardi’s every year. Tell Shad Khan to wise up and call me.
